Whilst you will have no direct financial responsibility for the collection and recycling of batteries, if you are a retailer or distributor of batteries you will have an obligation to assist in their collection and recovery. Also you will want to keep the cost to a minimum to avoid the cost of the batteries you sell being increased unnecessarily.
BatteryBack, launched this July offers a free treatment and recovery service to all retailers and distributors. If you are an existing WasteCare, WeeeCare or PackCare customer collection will also be made free of charge. If you are not already a customer then your only cost will be a fixed collection fee of £60 regardless, of the quantity of batteries you have to collect.
